Author Biographies

Jacqueline Filipek, University of Alberta

Jacqueline Filipek has a Bachelor of Education Degree in Elementary Special Education, a Master's of Education Degree in Language and Literacy Studies, and is currently a doctoral student at the University of Alberta. Her present area of research is understanding the digital reading practices and perceptions of elementary school-aged children. She also teaches undergraduate education courses in language arts curriculum and reading at the University of Alberta. 

Janine Tine, University of Alberta

Janine Tine has both a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Post-Degree Certificate in Educational Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan, as well as a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alberta. She has 10 years experience teaching Grades 2 through 8. Janine is currently a PhD student in Elementary Education at the University of Alberta. Her research interests include understandings of childhood held in intercultural marriages (unions) and their implications for early childhood education.
